An article about the Bluebell Railway brought about through a Mid Sussex District Council promotion.
Mid Sussex District Council engaged me to write a promotion highlighting the charms of its area, including gardens, walks, scenery and more. This was sent round various local news outlets - here The Ashford Advertiser picked up my piece on the Bluebell Railway and why it makes such a good day out. Since this piece was written, the railway has attained its long-dreamed of goal of extending the line to East Grinstead - a monumental effort that required an army of volunteers. I proposed that project for a British Guild of Travel Writers Tourism Award - it got the runners-up spot in the Britain category, behind the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth.
