Associate Editor for nine editions of the best-selling British guidebook, published annually.
My job each summer for nine years was to update the information for pubs that been approved as Main entries, using information supplied by the pub together with reader reports and comments from the editorial team. Typically I covered about four to seven counties (Wales and Scotland, incidentally, are reckoned as ‘counties’ for this purpose).
I edited every edition since 2005 to 2014, apart from 2012. For the 2014 edition, I worked on the chapters for Sussex, Scotland and Wales.
This remarkable effort depends on reports from its readers as well as anonymous inspections by staff.
